Christmas and New Year's

Location: Cape Dorset
Description: Celebration of the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Games and dates vary year to year. Customary activites include Inuit games on the sea ice and at the community hall, snowmobile parades and races, radio contests, square dancing, and community feasts.

Nunavut Day

Location: Cape Dorset
Description: Territorial Holiday to celebrate Canada's newest territory created on July 9, 1999. The creation of Nunavut has meant self-government for Inuit of government with the historical signing of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. Activites include barbeques, parades, Inuit traditional games, followed by a community feast of Inuit land foods such as caribou, walrus, and arctic char.

Hamlet Day

Location: Cape Dorset
Description: A Commemoration to celebrate this Municipal Holiday, Hamlet day is in recognition of the establishment of the Hamlet of Cape Dorset in 1982. Activities range from parades to Inuit traditional games. Celebrations are followed by a community feast.
